When is Easter Sunday 2027?
Easter is a moveable feast whose date is set by the lunar calendar, so it lands on a different day each year. In 2027 Easter Sunday falls on March 28. It is the central festival of the Christian calendar.
Because Easter does not fall on a fixed date, each year gets its own countdown; this page targets the 2027 date specifically.
Easter Sunday dates, 2026–2035
Easter moves with the lunar cycle, so its date differs every year. Here are the next 10 Easter Sundays from the Gregorian rule, each with its Unix timestamp at midnight UTC.

The story behind Easter 2027
Easter is the only major Western holiday whose date is still tied to the Moon. The First Council of Nicaea in 325 decided that it should be kept on a Sunday and be computed independently of the Jewish calendar, and the rule that emerged places it on the first Sunday after the Paschal full moon, the ecclesiastical full moon falling on or after March 21. That gives a range of 35 possible dates, from March 22 to April 25. Working the date out was a serious medieval science called computus, and it was one of the reasons the Julian calendar's drift eventually had to be corrected: by 1582 the equinox had slipped ten days, and the Gregorian reform reset it. Carl Friedrich Gauss published a purely arithmetical formula for the date in 1800, and a refined version of it is what this page uses to generate the table below. Because Eastern churches still compute Easter on the Julian calendar, the two dates usually differ; in 2027 Western Easter falls on March 28 while Orthodox Easter falls on May 2. March 28 is toward the early end of the range, so Lent begins on February 10 and Good Friday falls on March 26.
How this countdown is calculated
Easter 2027 is a fixed target: this page counts down to midnight at the start of Sunday, March 28, 2027, in your local time zone, and shows zero once that date has passed. The date itself comes from the Gregorian Easter rule, the first Sunday after the Paschal full moon on or after March 21; the table above lists the result of that rule for neighbouring years.
The big number at the top of this page is computed live in your browser the moment the page loads and ticks down every second — there is no stale, pre-baked figure here. It measures the gap between your current local time and March 28, 2027, then breaks it into days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Because the math runs on your own device, the result is always correct for your time zone and is never cached out of date.
The Unix timestamp of Easter Sunday 2027
Beyond the human-friendly countdown, this page also shows the Unix timestamp of the target date — the number of seconds since January 1, 1970 UTC. That single integer is what databases, schedulers, and APIs actually store. If you are building a feature that fires on Easter Sunday 2027 — a banner, an email, a cron job — the timestamp shown above is the value to compare against. You can also drop the date straight into the Epoch Converter to inspect it in every format, or into the Date Duration Calculator to measure the span from any other date.
Ways people use a Easter 2027 countdown
- Planning — knowing the exact number of days left helps with shopping, travel, and booking before deadlines pass.
- Sharing — send the live countdown link to friends, family, or a team channel so everyone sees the same ticking clock.
- Engineering — use the Unix timestamp above to schedule jobs or gate features around the date.
- Curiosity — sometimes you just want to know "how many days until Easter 2027?" and get a precise answer rather than a rough guess.
